Lynn Earl LaFon, 72, died on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, in Odessa, Texas. Lynn was born on Jan. 3, 1939, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Walt and Laura LaFon. Lynn graduated from Amarillo High School in 1957 and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State College. While at Southwestern Oklahoma State College, he earned a degree in pharmacy, graduating in 1961. Lynn married Jo Watson LaFon on Feb. 24, 1961, in Weatherford, Okla. Shortly after graduation, Lynn and Jo moved to the Texas Panhandle, settling in Lubbock, Texas, where they lived for 48 years. While in Lubbock, Lynn served as a pharmacist for the Lubbock State School, United Supermarkets and other local pharmacies.

Lynn was an active member of the Churches of Christ, serving and leading worship. As an avid singer, Lynn sang with the Singing Plainsmen and Hallelujah Chorus for over 25 years. To many, Lynn is remembered as a loving man, who always greeted with a smile.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Jo; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Debra LaFon of Denton, Texas; his son, Paul LaFon of Odessa, Texas; his granddaughters, Victoria LaFon and Sabrina Lara; and his great-granddaughter, Devanie Lara. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Macie LaFon of Houston, Texas.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Laura LaFon, and his sister, Barbara Sue LaFon Peek.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, through today, Dec. 5, 2011, at the American Heritage of the Permian Basin Funeral Home in Midland, Texas. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Sunrise Church of Christ in Lubbock, Texas, officiated by David Peebles. Graveside services will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Okla., on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011.
