Received this note from Mary Anne Mowry (Belew) today -

Linda - I am praying for Gloria and Jimmy Cobb. I am sorry he had to postpone his knee surgery. I know how that is -- I postponed mine for 3 years when Grady began a real downturn in his health, and then recently it was scheduled for July 1 (today), but my surgeon had to have surgery, and it has been postponed to July 15. Would appreciate prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery as I am Grady's caretaker now. God is so good! He always makes a way for us, doesn't he?

Please put her in your prayers so she can have a successful surgery on July 15,

Now that my wife Gloria is gradually getting better , I have scheduled my first of two knee replacement surgeries on July 22. I would appreciate prayers for both of us. I hope she will be able to help me while I am crippled up. Thanks for everyone's prayers.

I am so sorry to have to tell you that I got a note from Malcolm Cooper saying that his brother Eddie, who we have been praying for, passed away on May 7, after a hard and fast battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Malcolm during this time. If you would like to send a card, his address is

I checked with Jimmy Cobb to see how Gloria is doing. He said that it is a long process but that she is improving. They go back to the doctor next Thursday, so please keep the prayers going for both of them.

I have received a request to ask for prayers for Jo Strickland (Wulfman). She has been in the
hospital here in Amarillo for more than six weeks with colon problems. thanks.

Gloria and I were going home today, but Gloria got up very nauseated and started vomiting. We will have to postpone our return and hopefully we can get out of Dodge City (Bethesda,MD.) soon. Maybe God was just telling us she was not really well enough to go home. Keep praying for her.

First of all thanks to everyone who have been praying for my son Gary Dement.  Next week he is to see a lung specialist.  His heart doctor wants a lung specialist to look at his chest X-ray and hopefully they can determine is it's okay for him to be on a medication that usually helps the heart (atrial-fibulation) but also can cause lung, kidney and liver damage.  Unfortunately, the medication helps one thing but can be harmful to other organs.  Please continue to pray for Gary's overall health, but also for something positive as he's rather discouraged at this time.

Gloria made it through the surgery; however, I got this
note from Jimmy today.

On top of all else Gloria has pneumonia. They have put her on strong antibiotics. Now she needs double healing and everyone's prayers. God bless, Jimmy Cobb

Jimmy Cobb and his wife, Gloria are headed to Bethesda, MD
for Gloria to have a tumor removed from her pancreas. They
are leaving April 9. The tumor is not cancerous; however,
this is part of a research study and there are only about 300
of these surgeries a year in the USA. It is a very rare problem.
Please pray for them as they make the trip and pray for
Gloria as she goes through this surgery.

The second prayer request comes from Judy Lawhon (Smith)
and it is for her son, Gary, who has had on-going heart
problems and has a consultation with his doctor on Wed.
at 10:00 to discuss his options.

Glenda Grimm (Pohl)
I just received word from Glenda's husband, that she passed away Friday
afternoon very peacefully with her family around her. Their address is
3181 Kinross Circle, Herndon, VA. 20171-4043, if you want to sent a card.
Her husband's name is Tom Pohl.

John Thomas "Tom" Gast, 69, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008.

Memorial services will be at noon Monday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.

Tom was born Nov. 29, 1938, in Amarillo to James and Evelyn Gast. Tom served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy and worked at Pantex as a mechanical draftsman before moving to Los Alamos, N.M. Returning to Amarillo in 1981, he met Priscilla Sain, whom he married in 1993.

I have received information that Glenda Grimm (Pohl) is fighting a serious illness and felt that she would want her close friends to know.

I just learned that Dan Hawkins wife of 47 years, Jo Anne Walker Hawkins, passed away in Austin on Monday, February 11. She had been fighting cancer for over three years. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 10:30 AM at St. John Neuman Church, 5455 Bee Caves Road, Austin.
